MARIE-EVE G. CASTONGUAY

Vision
MARIE-EVE G. CASTONGUAY is originally from Quebec City, and is currently based in Montreal, Canada. She holds a diploma from the École de Joaillerie de Québec (2011) as well as a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Jewellery Design and Metalsmithing from NSCAD University (2013), in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She completed a four-year artist residency at Harbourfront Centre, in Toronto, where she was awarded a scholarship in 2014. She was granted with the Joya Award at Autor International Contemporary Jewellery Fair in 2015 and the Best of Wearable Artwork Award at the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition in 2016. Her work was included in many exhibitions throughout Canada as well as in France, Romania, Austria, Spain, Greece, the United States and Finland. Creating her pieces like miniature sculptures that one can wear, she is interested in the close relationship we have with jewellery. Her work explores notions of belonging and intimacy.
Originaire de la ville de Québec, Marie-Eve G. Castonguay est une artiste, commissaire et rédactrice vivant et travaillant à Montréal. Diplômée de l’École de joaillerie de Québec en 2011, elle poursuit ses études à NSCAD University, à Halifax, ou elle obtient son baccalauréat en arts visuels avec majeure en conception de bijoux et orfèvrerie en 2013. Elle complète une résidence d’artiste d’une durée de quatre ans au Harbourfront Centre de Toronto, ou elle est boursière dès la première année. Son travail fut inclus dans plusieurs expositions à travers le Canada ainsi qu’en France, en Roumanie, en Autriche, en Espagne, en Grèce, aux États-Unis et en Finlande. Créant ses pièces comme des sculptures miniatures que l'on peut porter, elle s'intéresse à la relation étroite que nous entretenons avec le bijou. Son travail explore les notions d'appartenance et d'intimité.
